Cloud Hosting vs Cloud Computing

The main difference between Cloud Hosting and Cloud Computing is the software running. When you hear of Cloud you are more likely to think of sharing your files (music, documents, videos, programs) on multiple devices by various users at the same time. This can be considered in the Share-Drive method of a Cloud Storage functionality on a web server, whereas the actual collaboration of using these files over a set community is the Cloud Computing part of this technology.

Basically, Cloud Hosting is the phisical space where you will be hosting your data to be shared either as a website, business infrastructure or other need you may have. You are provided with a set configuration where you will be enjoying of all the benefits of an infinitely scalable web server.

In turn, Cloud Computing is in charge of completing specific digital tasks. Instead of using your own local server or computer to store data and run software, you will be using the Remote Cloud server resources to handle all of these tasks over the internet, removing the limit of working at the office, and allowing you to move your business to wherever your mobile life needs you to be. The type of processing power you need will depend on what services you will be running from you server.

Cloud Hosting can be used by everybody, however, Cloud Computing is mostly used by Businesses, which is why their needs have to be scalable.

One of the most common uses of Cloud Computing by applications is the data transfer via the internet. Once the process is completed, the resulting data is sent right back to the client device. One great example of this is the use of Software as Service (SaaS), where your project is stored and worked on directly on the remote server instead of your local workstation. A couple of popular examples are Google Drive and Microsoft's OneDrive, allowing you to access and edit your content from all devices that have been granted access.

Technically speaking, you can run Cloud Computing from within a VPS or Dedicated Server for a Private Cloud Computing solution, however it is best to run it within a Cloud Hosting plan to remove the limitations on storage and bandwidth, while at the same time increase the throughput and possibility for extending your business as your hardware needs may require, without breaking the bank.

In short: Cloud Hosting is the ever expanding storage and resource facility, whereas Cloud Computing is the actual software that makes the data collaboration for a business possible.
