Often times we are asked what are the benefits of paying for shared, vps or dedicated hosting when Amazon offers it for free.
The answer can be a bit lengthy, but we can sumarize that the main difference is in Quality of Service and Customer Support. 

While it is true that AWS delivers cloud data centers at a very low price, it is still a public service, which slowly but surely is reducing the risks to users for downtime, hacking and other expansion issues.
One of the main advantages of AWS could be considered their flexible storage option,. Depending on where you are and what you need, you may be able to receive the service for free during the first year. Most people and organizations even use it as their private cloud storage engine. While the idea of an unlimited cloud drive sounds great, remember that after your trial period is over, you will have to pay for the storage you are using, as well as any other addon services. It may not be an issue for many users, but if you get carried away, or load something that goes against their Terms of Use, it could cost you more than just the leasing of the service: Your Data.

Now, we are not saying that just because you have a dedicated server with us or any other provider, you can just publish whatever you want. Instead, just be careful and read the safe usage legal documentation of your service provider. Restrictions and limitations follow a tier level:
 - Shared Hosting: Normal Restrictions for server safety
 - Virtual Private Servers: Less Restrictions, limited mainly by tech specs
 - Dedicated Servers: Least Restrictions, limited only by tech specs

While AWS gives you some fleibility and in average (from customer reviews) an average user friendly interface for setup and deploymentthe constant changes on its technology and GUI (Graphical User Interface) make it less than ideal for beginners. Some additional benefits and features may also be limited to whatever Amazon allows to run on their servers.
This last statement differs mainly from VPS and Dedicated servers in the sence that you have full ROOT control of what goes on your server, with an available customer care central to assist you if something went terribly wrong or some special configurations, such as rDNS. You may even convert a normal Linux VPS/Dedicated server into your private cloud server with the right software.

So, should I go ahead for a free AWS plan or a Paid Service?
When you pay for a service, you are also paying for True Customer and Technical Support. Some of our customers have migrated from AWS to VPS or Dedicated Hosting with us, only for the benefit of private and custom scalability with low risk on Data Loss or Downtime. However, the final decision is always yours and we will not try to upsell you anything you don't really need. Our focus is true transparency and Customer Privacy.

We will not deny that AWS is a good service, but as everything in life, what you use is based on what you need.
